I started amarela digital in April 2020, after loosing my job due to COVID-19, I decided to take the leap and start my own digital marketing business, with the intention of offering personalised and supportive digital marketing solutions. I graduated from the University of Leeds in 2019 with an honours degree in Fashion Marketing. My career history has varied since my first job back in 2011, I spent the last 9 years in the hospitality industry, primarily working in cocktail bars, most notably Revolucion De Cuba with whom I spent 7 years.
Since 2015 I was based in their Leeds site whilst I attended university, in my time there I learnt not only a great deal about making cocktails, although I was never the fastest, but also about managing teams and the importance of encouraging development within people so they can perform at their best, supporting people is extremely important. Delivering excellent customer service was an integral part of my job, alongside working under pressure and managing multiple tasks.
I progressed to a trainee manager and during this time learnt more about business operations and what is required to make a business perform at its best. I spent my year in industry there during 2017 as a Sales, Events & Social Media Coordinator and it was during this time where I was able to start applying skills gained in my degree into the work place, starting the beginnings of my marketing career.
In early 2019 towards the end of my degree, I left hospitality to pursue a digital marketing career and after I graduated we moved to Manchester, since then I have had roles in all areas of digital marketing. I was an SEO technician where I was able to learn valuable skills such as keyword research, writing optimised copy for websites & social and white hat SEO practices.
I then started my freelance writing and blogging in between jobs in late 2019, creating articles and optimised blog posts for different publications including FIZZYMAG which is a digital magazine based in Berlin, Roccabox which is a beauty box subscription business based in Leeds and becoming the freelance digital marketing manager for Slixir™, who I have been with for half a year.
My most recent role was as a Digital Marketing Executive for 2 healthcare businesses based in Cheshire, running every aspect of their digital presence and building some up essentially from scratch. I had been in this role 2 months and we had big plans ahead when, unfortunately, due to complications with COVID-19 I was let go in late March 2020.
After much deliberation and persuasion from friends to just go for it, I decided to start my own digital marketing business and that’s when amarela digital was born. We are a brand new, small business with a lot of passion for what we do, I hope you will join us on this journey and let us show you how easy it is to have an amazing digital marketing presence.
